During
the pre-selection process, the pre-selection jury viewed 1,003 films from 72
countries and ultimately selected 44 films from 23 countries for the
international competition programme of the 34th Alter-Native International
Short Film Festival.
Of
the 44 selected films, 21 are short fiction, 15 are animated films, 6 are
documentaries, and 2 are experimental films.
The
national competition programme features 13 films, including 10 fiction, 2
documentaries, and 1 animated film.
The
pre-selection committee consisted of producer György Durst; independent
filmmaker Jenő Hartyándi; film critic Réka Erőss; visual artist and filmmaker
Radu Vasile Igazság, professor at the “I.L. Caragiale” National University of
Theatre and Film in Bucharest; journalist and film critic Előd Németh, artistic
director of the Alter-Native International Short Film Festival; and filmmaker
Tibor Schneider, cinematographer at Romanian Television and associate lecturer
at the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș.
