Documentary workshop

The three-day workshop examines how a documentary can approach the character and their inner universe. Through contemporary films, we will be dealing with directorial presence, subjectivity, the trust between character and creator, as well as issues of intimacy and ethical responsibility. From there, we will arrive at visual and poetic storytelling: how might the environment, the landscape and nature serve as instruments of characterisation, as psychological space and as metaphor. The screenings will be paired with collective film breakdowns, creator panels, and a practical filmmaking assignment.
