Gabriela Sellanes Fagini is an emerging Uruguayan audiovisual director, born in San José de Mayo. She started with her first short film called “Ahhh!” in 2018, with which she won the ACERCA DE CINE award at the 16th Edition of the Spanish JAMESON NOTODOFILMFEST Festival. She studied Dramaturgy at FHCE/EMAD/UDELAR. She directed stage projects such as Tormenta Solar, under the guidance of María Dodera. This project was selected to participate in the First Microtheater Festival of Implosivo Artes Escénicas, obtaining a mention in 2019. That same year, Souvenir, a text written by her for Lectura Dramatizada, directed by Domingo Milesi, premiered at FIDAE (International Festival of Performing Arts). She was selected to participate in an International Residence for Emerging Dramaturgies run by the cultural department of the Paysandú municipality, taught by Gabriel Calderón (Director of Comedia Nacional) in 2019. She linked different scriptwriting and audiovisual directing workshops. Later, she directed short films and music videos with awards and mentions at local and international level. Among the latest recognized pieces is “Algo está roto” from 2022, which received a special mention in the Terror en una toma challenge at the 10th Detour New Film Festival. Among her works are the short films: Quereme como una planta, Un refugio nunca es un lugar and the music videos: Funeraria y casa en la playa de la banda Julen y la gente sola. Currently, she is in her second year of screenwriting at ECAM in the city of Madrid. Currently, she is developing the script for two feature films within the school and a series project.
